Dr. Lisa Huffman serves as dean of the College of Professional Education at Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas. TWU is the only public university system primarily focused on women’s education. As dean, her top priority is the preparation of outstanding and innovative education professionals and community leaders to support the development of diverse children across Texas and beyond. Prior to her appointment at Texas Woman's University in 2017, Dr. Huffman served as dean of the School of Education and Behavioral Sciences and dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies at Cameron University in Oklahoma. Earlier in her career, she spent 15 years as a faculty member and department chairperson of the Department of Educational Psychology at Ball State University in Indiana.
Throughout her career, Dr. Huffman has focused on facilitating innovative programming and partnerships to increase college access and student success. This effort has included reducing barriers for students, increasing seamless transfer from community colleges, and partnering with school districts and organizations.
Dr. Huffman has held multiple leadership roles, including President of the Texas Association of College of Teacher Education (TACTE), board member of the Consortium of State Organizations for Texas Teacher Education (CSOTTE), and a Deans for Impact Fellow. Currently, she serves as President-Elect of the Teacher Education Council of Colleges and State University (TECSCU).
