Educational background includes undergraduate degrees in Organizational Dynamics and Human Development through Warner Pacific University. A Master’s degree in Educational Leadership (M.Ed) through Concordia University, teaching certification school through City University of Seattle and Doctoral degree in Education, emphasis Instructional Design & Development with George Fox University. Professional work includes being an active public-school educator teaching special education, department head of Special programs, an Associate Instructor at City University of Seattle, and working with The Evaluation Systems group of Pearson Special Education Content Advisory Panel for the National Evaluation Series™ (NES®) program. Participated in the nationwide Content Advisory Panel to form the test framework for the Special Education subtest for new teacher candidates (2021, 2022 & 2023). Dr. Cortes also serves on various civic boards including be a publicly elected city official for a medium sized city, and a board member on a regional transit agency. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, Peloton cycling, boxing, reading and traveling.
