Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies and Teacher Education

Benjamin Forsyth, PhD, is the associate dean for undergraduate studies and teacher education in the College of Education at the University of Northern Iowa. His work is focused on overseeing the university-wide Educator Preparation Program which comprises nearly 150 faculty across four colleges, 2,100 teacher education students majoring and minoring in 44 areas of study, along with seven graduate programs leading to licensure in education. Forsyth has previously served as director of educator preparation, which included leading the College of Education Advising and Teacher Education Success Office, and he also served as head of the Department of Educational Psychology, Foundations and Leadership Studies. He joined the University of Northern Iowa in 2010 and holds a PhD in educational psychology and educational technology from Michigan State University and a BA in physics teaching with a mathematics minor from Brigham Young University. Prior to his graduate studies, Dr. Forsyth taught high school physics in Washington state.
