Dr. Carlson is a Professorin the Education Department at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. She teaches courses on literacy education at the undergraduate and graduate levels. She is an advocate against book banning in public schools and an advocate for equity and equality in literacy instruction. Her research interests include censorship, dyslexia, morphology, and vocabulary.
