Dr. Elisa Di Lolle is the College of Education Recruitment and Retention Specialist at Rowan University. In this role, she coordinates several postsecondary pipeline programs for underrepresented high school populations. Before working in higher education, Dr. Di Lolle spent over 20 years in P-12 school districts. She has been a Teacher and School Counselor. Her experience in School Administration includes roles at the building and district levels as a Supervisor of Counseling Services, English Language Learners (ELL/ESL), Curriculum and Instruction, Mathematics, Special Services, and School Principal.
As a first-generation college student, Dr. Di Lolle considers herself a lifelong learner and is grateful for her experience as an Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) student during her undergraduate program. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University with a Major in Urban Studies and Teacher preparation. She completed her Master's degree in School Counseling at Wilmington University. She attended Gwynedd Mercy University for her Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Special/Inclusive Education. Her doctoral dissertation focused on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs); it connected how trauma can impact Learning, Behavior, and Special Education classification rates and how schools can better support students by creating safe spaces and places through quality professional development and special training.
Her role as an Adjunct Faculty member for Rowan University's Counseling in Educational Settings and School Administration Graduate Programs allows her to share her expertise in student and staff mental health and trauma-informed best practices. Her unique background experience has made her a leader in the School Counseling field. Dr. Di Lolle is a member of the Traumatic Loss Coalition and volunteered on County-level School Crisis Response Teams in Team Leader roles. Previously, Dr. Di Lolle worked with incarcerated youth, counseling them in preparation for a successful life outside the juvenile justice system. These significant experiences guided Dr. Di Lolle's belief in student advocacy and the mantra of "do what is best for all students.”
