Allison R. Firestone is an education policy analyst in the Department of Research, Planning, and Assessment in San Francisco Unified School District. She applies mixed methods to study organizational transformation, emphasizing how rigorous integration of qualitative and quantitative findings can generate new understandings toward rectifying educational inequities. Active strands of her work include studying the drivers of disproportionality in special education placements and exclusionary discipline, and exploring educator-led models for learning as mechanisms for equity-centered, organizational capacity building. She is currently working on several research-practice partnerships focused on these topics. Prior to earning her doctoral degree, Dr. Firestone taught special and general education.
