Dr. Shari L. Hopkins is an Assistant Professor of Special Education at Western Oregon University. She received her Ph.D. in Special Education from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with an emphasis on curriculum and instruction for transition age students with extensive support needs. Prior to pursuing her career in higher education, she was a high school special education teacher for students with extensive support needs and a co-teacher in general education English Language Arts classrooms. Her research interests address collaborative practices between stakeholders to promote inclusive opportunities in school and community settings for individuals with extensive support needs. She currently serves on the editorial board of Journal of Disability Policy Studies. She is an active member of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Teacher Education Division of the Council for Exceptional Children, and TASH.
