Dr. Amy Scallon has over 20 years experience working in PK-12 and university classrooms. She started as a middle school teacher where she learned the importance of high-quality teachers who stay at their schools. For the past ten plus years, she has focused on teacher preparation and retention, predominantly through the residency model. She has worked with pre-service teachers at various universities teaching both undergraduate and graduate students and coaching student teachers. In her current role with Temple University, she has worked extensively to support and develop resident and mentor teachers and coaches, including creating innovative program components to better support the growth and leadership of new and veteran teachers. A central focus of hers is on developing and supporting high quality clinical experiences that work in support of increased readiness for educators as they start their careers.
