Dr. Brian Keith Williams, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educator Preparation at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. He has a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Urban Literacy from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. During the 2019-2020 academic year, Dr. Williams was the recipient of the Faculty Teaching Excellence Award at his university. His research focuses on teacher preparation, content area literacy, and culturally sustaining pedagogy. He has held leadership positions with Future Teachers of North Carolina (Director), North Carolina’s New Teacher Support Program (Advisory Board), the North Carolina Association of Colleges for Teacher Educators’ Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion SIG (Steering Committee), Freedom Schools (Project Director), and Division K – Teaching and Teacher Education of the American Educational Research Association (Co-Chair). He has worked to advance the educational outcomes and social mobility of students of color within K-12 settings. His scholarship, concentrated on diversity, equity, and inclusion, includes 45 publications, over two million dollars in extramural funding, 63 peer-reviewed conference presentations, and over 50 service commitments at the university, community, and professional levels.
