Kavita Kapadia Matsko is an associate professor and associate dean for teacher education in the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University. Her interests focus on the design and study of teacher education, pre-service mentoring, and new teacher induction with attention to the features of preparation that promote teacher readiness and equitable teaching. In 2022, Matsko and colleagues received JTE's best article award for "Three Different Measures of Graduates' Instructional Readiness and the Features of Preservice Preparation That Predict Them." Matsko has served as principal and co-principal investigator for several research projects funded by the Spencer and Joyce Foundations that examine mentor teachers and mentoring, student teaching, and teacher preparation pathways in Chicago Public Schools.
