Prepared To Teach
Dr. Karen DeMoss is the Executive Director of Prepared To Teach, a national group working to make affordable, paid teacher residencies the norm across the country. The Prepared To Teach team works to disrupt systemic educational inequities by ensuring all students have access to well prepared, fully certified teachers. The project pursues research, policy, and practice improvements alongside a national network of teacher preparation/school district partnerships committed to affordable, high-quality teacher residencies.
Karen received her Ph.D. in education from the University of Chicago, where she worked for seven years at the Consortium on Chicago School Research, learning from exceptional leaders of racially-isolated schools where students thrived. Among other positions, she has served as National Director of Research and Evaluation for New Leaders, Director of preparation programs for Wagner College, and faculty in Educational Leadership at the University of New Mexico.
