Dr. Clifton Tanabe serves as the Dean of the College of Education and Vice Provost for Learning Innovation at the University of Texas at El Paso. Prior to this, he served in the University of Hawaii at Mānoa Office of the Chancellor as Chief of Staff and Director for Institutional Transformation. And, prior to that he served as the Director for the Leaders for the Next Generation Program and as Co-Director for the Hawaii Education Policy Center also at UH Manoa. He earned his Ph.D in Educational Policy Studies and a Law Degree both from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His scholarly interests are in equity, access and innovation in higher and k-12 education practice and policy. His most challenging and rewarding job is as a parent to his three children.
