Facilitator and Cross-Site Coordinator
Racial Justice in Teacher Education Networked Improvement Community
Robin White has more than 30 years of experience in the design, implementation, management, and evaluation of education and workforce development programs—and securing the funding needed to conduct them. Now working as an independent consultant, she previously served as director of program and policy development for the National Institute for Work and Learning (NIWL) at FHI 360 (and its predecessor, the Academy for Educational Development).
Robin recently co-directed Succeed 2020, a $25 million privately funded effort to improve the college and career readiness of North Dakota secondary students and led coaching and technical assistance for the Bush Foundation’s Network for Excellence in Teaching (NExT), which sought to transform teacher education at 14 institutions of higher education (IHEs). In addition, she was the primary author of a report on the accomplishments, challenges, and lessons learned from NExT as well as a report on policy themes for states to consider as they position education and workforce systems to anticipate the impact of technological disruptions on workers, workplaces, and the nature of work.
Robin’s current consultancies involve partnership building, resource development, facilitation, and project leadership. As a consultant to Michigan State University, she has served as the facilitator and cross-site coordinator of the Racial Justice in Teacher Education Networked Improvement Community (NIC) since 2019. She previously convened the three IHEs that established the NIC and co-authored the proposal that generated start-up funding from the Hewlett Foundation. She later served as the primary author of the renewal proposal and played a leadership role in development of a third proposal for support from the Hewlett Foundation. In addition, worked with leaders from the Duke University Health System, Durham Community Technical College, and the Durham Public Schools to plan an early college that will create pathways to high-demand healthcare positions. The proposal submitted to Bloomberg Philanthropies for this project received a grant award of $29.5 million.
