Erica D. McCray is Professor of Special Education and Associate Dean for Personnel Affairs, Inclusive Excellence, and External Engagement at the University of Florida. She co-directs the CEEDAR Center and recently concluded OSEP leadership grant, Project Studying Teacher Effectiveness, Evaluation, and Policy (STEEP). Dr. McCray teaches at the undergraduate and graduate levels–including qualitative research methods–and was a special educator for students with high-incidence disabilities in elementary and middle school settings. Her research focuses on the influence of diversity on policy and practice. She co-edited the Handbook of Research on Special Education Teacher Preparation and the book-length monograph Knowledge, Skills and Dispositions for Culturally Competent and Interculturally Sensitive Leaders in Education. Dr. McCray has been recognized as a scholar, receiving the Emerald Publishing Literati Network Awards for Excellence Outstanding Author Contribution and a UF Term Professorship. Additionally, she was named the 2008-2009 undergraduate teacher of the year and has coordinated the UF Chapter of the AACTE Holmes Scholars program since 2017. She provides leadership and service to the field as a member of the CAST UDL Equity Rising Advisory Board, chair of the Council for Exceptional Children-Division for Research Awards committee and recently chaired the AACTE Committee on Research and Dissemination.
