Elizabeth (Beth) Shaver is a doctoral student in the Department of Teacher Education and Learning Science at North Carolina State University with a concentration on Social Studies education. Her research interests include promoting excellent K-12 social studies education through the use of primary sources in the classroom and representation of marginalized Americans in American history curricula. Beth taught social studies for fourteen years between California and North Carolina before entering the doctoral program and was the 2020 state recipient of the Gilder Lehrman History Teacher of the Year award in North Carolina.
