Dr. Coppersmith’s recent research and professional development for teachers includes transformative learning and an action research focus on global competency and cooperative online international learning. A mixed methods approach is used for in-service and pre-service teachers’ application of linguistically and culturally responsive teaching practices; to examine stress, self-efficacy, and inquiry learning of pre-service teachers; furthering explorations of inquiry learning in the Fur Trade Era in the Mid-Mississippi Valley in an International Baccalaureate Language Immersion setting, along with teaching with primary sources to support geo-history and geography via geospatial technology, and moral agency and pro-social beliefs of undergraduates studying World Regional Geography, global citizenship, and distant suffering.
