Mayra Marquez-Mendez is a doctoral student in Educational Psychology, finishing the third year of her Ph.D. program. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in Education Studies and a Master of Education from the University of California, San Diego.
As a former elementary school educator and current undergraduate instructor, Mayra has learned that collaboration, mentorship, and professional development are crucial for educators’ and students’ growth and development. Her experiences lead to her research interests, which include mentorship and self-determination theory and their impact on the educational experiences of teachers and students.
