Dr. TaVshea Smith earned her B.S. and M.S. from Shaw University. She obtained her doctorate from Northcentral University in Educational Leadership. In her numerous years as an educator, Dr. Smith has been privileged to work with students and teachers in a variety of K-8 and college/university settings. She has worked as a classroom teacher and reading and math interventionist and adjunct professor in early childhood education and elementary education. Currently, Dr. Smith serves as an Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education in North Carolina. Her goal is to continue to emphasize the importance of effective educational practices, develop strong pathways for novice educators, and emphasize the iimportance of providing an equitable education for all students. Dr. Smith actively promotes educational equity, and she is passionate about early childhood education, early literacy, preservice teacher mentorship and support, inclusive practices, and educational policy. Additionally, Dr. Smith is actively involved in numerous organizations and serves in numerous leadership positions.
