Dr. Goldie Thompson is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Teacher Preparation and Special Programs at the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. Thompson graduated from the University of Oklahoma with her Bachelor’s degree in 1998, her Master’s degree in 2000, and her Doctoral degree in 2014.
In her current role, she works to support programs that help recruit, retain and place teachers in Oklahoma classrooms. Additionally, she collaborates with other education agencies, organizations and institutions of higher education on teacher education policy, accreditation and professional development efforts.
In 2019, Dr. Thompson was inducted into the University of Oklahoma Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education Hall of Fame, as well as into the Oklahoma African American Educators Hall of Fame. She was also honored among the Oklahoma Journal Record's 2023 top 50 women Making a Difference. As a strong advocate for education, she has conducted numerous research presentations and has published articles in local, regional and national journals, including the Journal of Philosophy and History of Education.
Dr. Thompson is a member of the Oklahoma Data Governance Council, and the DaVinci Institute Executive Committee. She has also served on the Educator Quality and Diversity Advisory Committee, and the Central and South-Central Comprehensive Centers Regional Advisory Board, comprised of six states. Additionally, Dr. Thompson has served as the Chancellor’s designee for the Oklahoma Science and Technology Research and Development (OSTRaD) Board, the state’s Dyslexia Task Force, and, currently, the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) Board.
