Dr. Kasey Johnson began teachin gin 2000 in K12. She joined Ottawa University in 2019 and is now department chair for Ottawa’s School of Education serving online, Kansas, and Arizona candidates. Along with teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, she oversees graduate program development, community partnerships, candidate and mentor training, and serves on multiple community and academic committees. Dr. Johnson seeks to impact education to ensure equity and opportunity are available for everyone belonging to a learning environment. Her work with current and future educators allows her to hear from those in the field and at the state level. Dr. Johnson is an advocate for providing individuals with educational support aligned with high expectations, differentiated instruction, authentic assessments, and collaboration with community to ensure preservation of culture and identity. Her work in the classroom has provided Dr. Johnson the opportunity to speak at national, state, and local conferences. Dr. Johnson and Ottawa University seek to empower individuals to create a positive difference for their students, school, and community by ensuring everyone belongs while their voice is welcomed, valued, and heard.
