Michelle Damiani, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Inclusive Education at Rowan University. She received her Ph.D. in Special Education from Syracuse University. Formerly, she was an elementary special education teacher and a new teacher mentor. In her research, she uses a disability studies in education framework to understand the experiences of educators with disabilities and to examine disability as an aspect of diversity in the teacher workforce that contributes to understanding pedagogical approaches and inclusive school culture. She is also engaged in research that builds capacity in schools by expanding the use of inclusive pedagogy and practices. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses related to disability studies, inclusive special education, and inclusive teaching methods. Dr. Damiani serves as the secretary of the Co-teaching in Clinical Practice topical interest group within the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.
