Elizabeth Edwards has more than 35 years of experience as an educator and has spent the past 7 years supporting in-service teachers as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction with the NC New Teacher Support Program. Prior to serving the state in this role, Elizabeth served as the NC Director for the Network to Transform Teaching, Director of Outreach and Engagement (NC, SC, and VA) for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, a Race to the Top Professional Development Consultant for the NC Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), and the NCDPI National Board Certification Program State Coordinator. Beginning her career teaching elementary special education, Elizabeth earned and renewed her National Board Certification, obtained a Ma. Ed in Low Incidence Populations, followed by a degree in Administration and an Ed.D. in Leadership, focused on Curriculum and Instruction. Elizabeth resides in eastern NC with her family and enjoys spending time with her husband and grandchildren.
