Dr. Cindy Gutierrez is the Director of Clinical Teacher Education & Partnerships in the School of Education & Human Development (SEHD) at the University of Colorado Denver. She leads the design and implementation of innovative clinical preparation models across all undergraduate and graduate teacher education pathways, including CU Denver’s nationally recognized NxtGEN Undergraduate Residency, a first-of-it's kind 4 year para-to-teacher residency model and CU Denver's Professional Development School (PDS) Network, one of the longest, most successful PDS networks in the country, established in 1993. Across all pathways, CU Denver centers clinical preparation that includes culminating yearlong teacher residencies. Pathways are co-designed in close partnership with school district and community partners to meet the needs of an ever-growing diverse teacher workforce. Dr. Gutierrez’ research focuses on clinically centered preparation through customized partnerships for diverse teacher education. She has over 20 years of experience developing and leading teacher education programs and has served as the PI or Co-PI on nearly 20 million dollars of sponsored projects.
