Juliet Michelsen Wahleithner, Ph.D., serves as the Director of Educator Preparation Programs and Accreditation at California State University, Fresno, where she is also an associate professor of literacy education. In her role as the Director of Educator Preparation Programs and Accreditation, she supports the university's 14 educator preparation programs. Most recently, she led the successful accreditation site visits from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation. Dr. Wahleithner teaches courses focused on literacy for undergraduates, credential candidates, and MA students within the Literacy, Early, Bilingual, and Special Education Department at Fresno State, along with courses focused on academic writing within the Fresno State Education Doctoral Program. She also serves as the director of the San Joaquin Valley Writing Project, the local site of the National Writing Project. Additionally, Dr. Wahleithner is a core faculty member of the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership at Fresno State and the co-coordinator of Fresno State's Holmes Program.
Dr. Wahleithner’s research focuses on teacher education, the teaching and learning of literacy in secondary schools, and performance assessments. Prior to earning her Ph.D., Dr. Wahleithner taught high school English and journalism and served as a district level instructional coach in Lodi Unified.
