Senior Program Manager, Trauma Informed Practices
Metropolitan State University of Denver
Dr. Andrea (Andy) Thyrring (they/she), has worked in higher education for 10 years. Dr. Thyrring completed their doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction and uses instructional design methodology to inform power-conscious approaches to trauma-informed praxis. Andy uses critical consciousness and reflexivity to build upon learners' intelligences. Rather than teach at learners, Andy believes that teaching and learning is a reciprocal relationship; learning with the folx in the classroom to co-construct knowledge yields rich results. Andy uses engaging activities and learner-driven conversation in all trainings and classes. Outside of the classroom, Dr. Thyrring's research focuses on the intersection of power, identity, and the prevention of harm through a trauma-informed lens.
