Dr. Shane Pisani is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Seattle University’s K-12 Teaching, Learning, and Social Justice department. As the Director of the Education and Liberal Studies (EDLS) Teacher Education specialization, Dr. Pisani is responsible for collaborating with university and school district partners to provide an innovative practice-based teacher certification program for undergraduate students. Prior to joining Seattle University, Dr. Pisani was faculty in the Seattle Teacher Residency program. In collaboration with a number of community partners, including the University of Washington, the Seattle Teacher Residency program was charged with developing a model of teacher education that attracted a more diverse teacher candidate pool and to meet the needs of Seattle’s urban schools. Dr. Pisani’s expertise in practice-based teacher education focuses on the importance of greater cross-discipline experiences for pre-service teachers and the reimagining of schools as active partners in the teacher preparation process.
