Associate Professor
University of San Diego
James O. Fabionar, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Education at the University of San Diego. His research explores the work of successful students and educators in challenging community and organizational contexts. Drawing on his experience as a K-12 teacher and administrator, he brings critical theoretical perspectives to matters concerning vulnerable learner populations, including developing and implementing socially just curriculum and instruction, extending out-of-school-time and youth development programs to marginalized groups, and building strong school-to-university pathways for historically under-served communities. He teaches graduate courses on diversity and inclusion in schools, equity and advocacy in educational systems, curriculum theory, secondary social science methods, and critical theory in educational research.
